Styrene-butadiene-styrene triblock copolymer(SBS) is a nonpolar thermoplastic elastomer and can be modified into an ionomer containing polar groups, in order to widen its uses. Xie et al reported the preparation of maleated ionomer and quaternary ammonium ionomer via ring-opening reaction of epoxidized SBS (ESBS) by potassium hydrogen maleate and triethylamine hydrochloride, respectively[1,2]. They also obtained the sulfonated SBS ionomer by using sulfuric acid and acetic anhydride in the presence of acetone[3].This communication deals with the preparation and characterization of sulfonated SBS ionomer prepared by ring-opening reaction of ESBS with aqueous NaHSO3 solution. …… |
